The project aimed to recover the existing volume and turn it into a home, respecting the architectural character of the building and of the surrounding built and natural landscape.
The design combines respect for the local building tradition with the use of contemporary technologies, pursuing high standards of seismic safety and energy efficiency. This required a significant structural intervention: a new load-bearing structure in X-LAM timber panels, properly insulated and clad externally in exposed stone, to preserve the architectural identity of the building.
Conceived as a high energy-efficiency house, the home has a minimal energy demand, met by a heat pump system combined with fan coil units. All energy uses are powered exclusively by electricity, with no fossil fuels.
Finally, a controlled mechanical ventilation system ensures continuous air exchange and helps maintain high indoor air quality, providing excellent comfort and well-being.
